The Beit CURE International Hospital in Blantyre was established in 2002. It is part of an international network of surgical hospitals, specialising in orthopaedics and offering expertise in total hip and knee replacement surgery, complex trauma fixation and arthroscopy. The only hospital that performs total hip and knee replacement surgery in Malawi, we have a track record of carrying out major orthopaedic operations and use the best implants available in the world today. We see 8000 patients every year, and perform more than 1500 operations.
The hospital prides itself in achieving orthopaedic excellence and maintains a significant contribution to the training of orthopaedic surgeons, being the only hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSENG) for training purposes. The Beit CURE International Hospital is also a teaching hospital and the biggest orthopaedic research centre in Sub-Saharan Africa. Research is a key factor in the treatment and care we provide for patients- now and as we seek to raise standards even higher in the future.
Our purpose is to provide a first-rate service to patients in an environment that fosters excellence in teaching and research in order to improve orthopaedic care for all adults and children in Sub-Saharan Africa. What distinguishes us as a hospital is that we combine world-class expertise in the forefront of orthopaedic surgery and physiotherapy, with local treatment and care dedicated to serving the patient, both before, during, and after surgery. It means that there is no necessity to leave the continent for treatment- cutting out the organisation, costs, risks, and efforts of travelling.
